IPH4004 Affective Neuroscience Basics 3 6 Major Bachelor/Master Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence English Yes
Joyful, happy, sad, angry, disgusting, painful, bored... we experience these emotions all the time, and these experience keep changing every moment. How can we "define" emotions? How can we "study" emotions? What are the "bodily factors" that influence emotions? How we "measure" bodily response of emotions? What are the "brain representations" of emotions? Are emotions same with affect or feelings? How can we model the "dynamics" of emotions? What are the underlying problems in emotional disorders, like anxiety and depression? etc. There are so many interesting questions about emotions. In this class, you will learn some key topics of affective neuroscience.
IPH5001 Medical Imaging Systems in Precision Medicine 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-8 Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
Advanced medical imaging systems such as MRI, CT, Ultrasound, PET etc are cornerstones of precision medicine in modern medical systems, playing a decisive role of accurate diagnosis and monitoring after treatment of diseases. In this course, we will discuss how they work in principle and how they can be used for clinical applications as well.
IPH5002 MRI-Based Diagnoses in Precision Medicine 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-8 Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
We can’t overexaggerate the importance of accurate diagnosis of diseases in precision medicine. In a modern medical system, in particular, advanced medical imaging systems play a critical role for the accurate diagnosis. Among them, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has advantages of providing high spatial resolution with various image contrasts and no radiation exposure over other imaging modalities. In this course, we will discuss a variety of MRI-based diagnostic techniques especially from a standpoint of both engineering and clinics.
IPH5003 Medical Image Analysis 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-8 Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
Precision medicine is one of the most promising future paradigms in medicine, providing low cost and high output for patients. With changing trends in medicine, it is very important to utilize a large scale of medical imaging data for analysis and diagnosis of pathological diseases. Thus, in this subject, we deal with signal modelling and corresponding optimization methods in various medical imaging applications such as vascular system, glymphatic system, perfusion, diffusion, etc.
IPH5004 Signal Processing for Intelligent Medical Imaging 3 6 Major Master/Doctor 1-8 Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
Precision medicine is one of the most promising future paradigms in medicine, providing low cost and high output for patients. To cope with these trends in medicine, in this subject we introduce to graduate students how to synergetically combine existing signal processing disciplines with machine learning strategies.
IPH5005 Affective Neuroscience for Precision Medicine 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
Joyful, happy, sad, angry, disgusting, painful, bored... we experience these emotions all the time, and these experience keep changing every moment. How can we "define" emotions? How can we "study" emotions? What are the "bodily factors" that influence emotions? How we "measure" bodily response of emotions? What are the "brain representations" of emotions? In this class, you will first learn methodologies for affective neuroscience (focusing on fMRI), and learn some key topics of affective neuroscience, esp. related to precision medicine.
IPH5006 Basic Statistics for Precision Medicine 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
Data are everywhere. Data science already became a key element in many research and industrial areas. The primary aim of this course is to learn basic concepts and skills for data analysis, including concepts of random variables, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, linear modeling, data visualization, etc., preparing you for your life after the graduation in this data-are-everywhere age. However, this is not the only aim of this class. Statistics goes beyond just data analysis, I believe. Statistics is a way of thinking and reasoning. It helps with scientific reasoning and critical thinking. Thus, I hope this class could provide you with some useful tips for scientific thinking and reasoning.
IPH5007 Biopolymers and precision medicine 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence English Yes
This class introduces biopolymer capable of mimicking microenvironments of human tissues in precision medicine. We understand the engineering strategy of a polymeric formulation similar to human tissues through controlling mechanical and physicochemical properties of the biopolymers. In addition, we learn analytical tools for polymeric formulations and the chemical bonds involved in the polymers.
IPH5008 Advanced instrumental analysis of biomaterials 3 6 Major Master/Doctor Intelligent Precision Healthcare Convergence - No
In this class, we learn instrumental analysis for biomaterials to understand their structure, morphology and mechanical properties in material science. Our aims include 1) to understand principles of instrumental analysis for biological/chemical/medical materials and 2) to learn how to choose bio/chemical analytical tools for research. This class is “Flipped class”. Every class includes discussion time to solve example questions regarding biomaterial research.
